Hopefully everyone is having a wonderful summer! Time seems to be speeding by even faster than before.
My recent move to Pennsylvania is the third move in 15 months…and I’m thoroughly fed up with the whole idea of moves. Back when my ex-husband was in the military, we moved every couple of years. It was the norm for us then, but now…no, thank you. I never want to see another U-Haul packing box again!
The abundant wildlife here in the Allegheny National Forest, though, definitely makes up for all the moves and unpacking. Rumor has it there is a resident bear for this little town, but I haven’t seen him yet. Hopefully he won’t discover the large metal container of bird seed on the back deck! While the cats might find it fun to watch from the safety of the indoors…I don’t want to clean up the mess that would make! There are rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, and even a woodchuck that live in the back yard.
I wanted to take this opportunity to update the fans of the Intergalactic Matchmaking Services series. Book four, “Taylor’s Story,” is still a work in progress. I have a couple of projects to do before I can get back to it, so it will be a while before this story is completed. One thing I have to decide, before I can get back to working on it, is whether book four will be the end of the series.
I am so grateful for the encouragement the IMS fans have shown me during the last 18 months, through my divorce and all the moves. There are still stories to be written…but the creativity muse is struggling to keep its head above water at times.
At the moment, I have in mind a memoir of my pursuit of this writing dream while going through menopause, then through a divorce. I’m at an age when many women think they are past the time for discovering, seeking, or realizing a dream. Too many of us feel that realizing a dream is for the younger folks…as though our dreams come with an expiration date.
My hope is to get to work on the memoir soon, then complete the final two short stories in the Tales from the Nordonians series. Then I hope to complete “Taylor’s Story.” I also want to get back to writing blog posts on a regular basis. It probably won’t be weekly, but I will try harder to share more frequent postings about this Road to a Dream.
Until next we meet on this Road to a Dream…be kind to each other…and to yourself!
