Blog: The Road to a Dream

Since writing came to me later in life, I like to think I’m living proof that it’s never too late to reach for a dream or to achieve it. With the encouragement of friends and family, I am finally pursuing my dreams. I would love to share with you this journey of self-discovery that I have embarked upon. Sometimes “The Road” is bumpy, sometimes it’s winding, but no matter what, it is fascinating and one heck of a learning experience.

Never let anyone tell you your dreams come with an expiration date!

Mathenzo’s Tale

Posted by Ava Louise on January 29, 2017

Hello Readers!

Happy 2017! I hope this New Year is treating you well.

The Past…

Today, January 29, is special for me because three years ago on this day I released my first book, “Maggie’s Story.” A lot has happened in those three years. Many ups and many downs. And just as many changes.

The Present…

It is pure coincidence that I am now releasing my newest story, “Mathenzo’s Tale,” on this anniversary. Somehow, though, it feels right that the days matched up.

Please check out the third of four short stories in the Tales from the Nordonians series. In “Mathenzo’s Tale” you will learn how Mathenzo came by his scar and how he lost his mother and sisters during the Borenite attack on his home world.

I would like to thank all the fans of The Intergalactic Matchmaking Services series that have kept in touch over the last two years during my “hiatus.” Your outreach has meant the world to me.

For a while there I truly wondered if I would ever be able to write again. My “muse” seemed to have abandoned ship and I was left feeling quite adrift.

The Future…

I’m ecstatic to say, though, that the muse has returned and the creative juices are flowing once more.

In a few more weeks I will release the final short story in The Tales from the Nordonians, “Pacer’s Tale.” Between now and then I will be diligently working on the fourth book in the Intergalactic Matchmaking Services series, “Taylor’s Story.” With this book you will learn Denot’s story, too. Also, I will finally answer the question, “Who is Charlie?”…his name was dropped in the third IMS book!

After “Taylor’s Story” I will begin work on one of two possible ideas:

  1. A Fantasy novel that has been hanging around in the back of my mind. Think Wiccans, dragons, wolves, and elves. Sounds interesting, right?
  2. A memoir of this journey I’ve been on. Realizing what I wanted to do in life (at a later age than most!), the journey through dealing with depression and menopause, and then a divorce after 26 years of marriage. The lesson I’ve learned through this is that I am not too old to dream, nor am I broken because of menopause and divorce.

Thank you, again, my readers. Your presence in my life makes me feel so truly blessed. I hope you enjoy the latest story, “Mathenzo’s Tale.” If you do, I would love it if you could post a review on Amazon.

Until next we meet on this Road to a Dream…be kind to each other…and to yourself!
